About:

Designer, Simone Gonzalez, was born and raised in Pasadena, California. She competed in springboard and platform diving as a youth, and studied photography while in high school. She graduated from Mayfield Senior School in 2002, and went on to study English at the University of California, Santa Barbara. During college, she interned for the Bloomingdale’s fashion office. Shortly after, Simone left college to pursue her goal to design. She spent a year assisting the creative director for KVM International.  Simone came up with the banded elastic skirt in June 2008, while teaching herself to sew. Simone currently owns, operates, and designs Pleasure Doing Business.

Pleasure Doing Business launched in March 2009, with the goal of creating an American label devoted to innovative material use and design. The line draws a great deal of inspiration from its base city, Los Angeles, where the designs are conceptualized and produced.  The company designs for the modern young woman who is not afraid to stand out in a crowd.  She embraces her femininity, and appreciates clothing that conveys attitude and confidence. She has a strong personality and an eclectic style. Nuances of opulence, rock and roll, glamour, and modernity intermingle throughout the collection. Maybe it was the over-saturation of empire waists, a-line hems, and other girly details that have become synonymous with style these days. Whatever the case may be, Simone Gonzalez sought out to create something new and different and Pleasure Doing Business was born.
